The prominent peak is the ideal location for Switzerland’s first geological trail as well as many beautiful hiking paths in the Alpstein. One can comfortably glide up to this destination from Brülisau by cable car in a mere eight minutes. How pleasant!

The old town of Stein am Rhein, picturesquely situated on the banks of the Rhine, impresses with its well-preserved half-timbered houses, colorful facade paintings and historic buildings from the Middle Ages.

Snowli and his team of trained children’s ski instructors look forward to helping lots of kids who want to make their first attempts at snow sports here. The meeting place is Hüttenberg, which has a school-owned lift for children attending the ski kindergarten.

Originally a private landscape garden, the City Park is today the largest contiguous green space in the St. Gallen inner city area. With its lawned areas under beautiful old trees, it is the epitome of a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. It is surrounded by Theater St. Gallen, the Museum of Art, and the Historical and Folklore Museum.

The city of St.Gallen is known for its legendary “Erststockbeizli”, characteristic, traditional restaurants and wine taverns located on the first floors of the historic timber-framed houses of the old town.

Large, widely varied ridge crossing against a fantastic Alpine backdrop; it features a short walk-in, plenty of action and a few special highlights such as the large suspension bridge. Only suitable in good weather conditions (with no risk of storms!).

This fountain, created by Toggenburg sculptor August Bösch and placed on the Lindenplatz in 1896, is a reminder of the times when the city was supplied with water from Lake Constance.

The three artificial water basins ‘Drei Weieren’ were created in 1610 to secure the water supply for the textile bleaching industry as well as the fire brigades. Today they are a water park, an oasis of serenity and a wonderful recreation area. Located just a few minutes from the Grand Tour, the ponds invite visitors to swim, take a stroll or picnic in the summers, and ice-skate in cold winters. The fact that Drei Weieren are amongst Switzerland’s most beautiful natural swimming pools is also due to the magnificent view of Lake Constance, the city of St. Gallen and the Abbey Cathedral which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

In Bad Ragaz, the neighbouring spa and health resort, thermal waters spring from the imposing Tamina Gorge. For hundreds of years, people have flocked to this destination seeking convalescence. The ‘Heidiland’ holiday region also delights visitors with its numerous offers for hikers, cyclists, and winter-sports enthusiasts.

Between Bad Ragaz and Wangs, at the beginning of the St Gall Rhine Valley, rises the Pizol summit which, in Romanesque, means ‘high peak’. With an altitude of 2,844 m (9,331 ft), this mountain massif offers a fascinating panoramic view of the Alps – from Eastern Switzerland to Vorarlberg and Lake Constance. The 200-metre-long Pizol glacier stretches along east of the summit. On the north side of Pizol, the hiking and skiing area of the same name invites travellers to enjoy diverse leisure activities all year round.

Experience the Berglistüber near Linthal in Glarnerland: The Fätschbach plunges 44 meters into the depths here. A short path leads you close to the thundering waterfall.

Drei Weieren (Three Ponds) are an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. The ponds, which were originally built by the monastery for their water needs with their art nouveau bath houses, are a popular destination for outings and as swimming spot.

The Alp is in the midst of Europe's oldest game reserve. It is the habitat of many Alpine animals. Get to know life on an Alp. Driving cattle, milking cows, and much more. Sleep in a fragrant hay bed, the Alpine farmer will provide for your basic material comforts.

The Mülenen Gorge is a narrow ravine south of the old town of St.Gallen. At the lower end of the valley - so the story goes – Saint Gall stumbled and fell among thorns.

150 metres wide, thundering 23 metres down into the depths before your eyes is Europe’s largest waterfall, a spectacular example of the power of nature. Experience the roaring spectacle of nature at first hand from the ‘Känzeli’ platform. The rock in the middle of the river can be reached by boat and a short ascent on foot. Laufen Castle, enthroned above the water for more than a thousand years, ranks amongst Canton Zurich’s cultural heritage sites. The foaming waters of the Rhine Falls are mesmerising at any time of day, including the evenings when they are illuminated.

Concentrated within a small area around Bruggen, now a district of the city of St. Gallen, is a unique landscape featuring almost 20 bridges dating from between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Varying greatly in height, span and design, these include diverse structures – from ancient timber bridges in the valley bottom to tall steel and concrete bridges whose construction won international acclaim.

Young and old will enjoy the challenge of the viticultural trail in Thal. Afterwards, little ones will know more about their natural surroundings, while adults will have learned some fascinating facts about winegrowing.

Visitors obtain a lot of interesting information about the art of brewing on an exciting tour of Brauquöll Appenzell (Brewery Source Appenzell). The tour enables visitors to learn how Appenzell beer and Säntis Malt are created from fresh spring water.

Around 8,000 plant species from all over the world thrive on the two hectares of the Botanical Gardens at Stephanshorn, St. Gallen. Special features include the Tropical House, with its rainforest plants, succulents and orchids, and the architecturally remarkable Alpine House.

The small town of Appenzell is the capital of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. Characterised by the river Sitter, which meanders through the town, Appenzell impresses with its historic residential districts and characteristic timber-frame buildings.

Hike along the Thur and Neckerweg rivers along the Thur and Necker rivers through Toggenburg. On about 80 kilometres you will experience forests, moors and villages as well as oases of peace with art and sound.
