The Waldstätterweg hiking trail starts in Brunnen and leads hikers in seven stages over seven days around the scenic Lake Lucerne to the Rütli.

The reward for the steep climb to Höllchöpfli is the views along the high-level hike through forests and meadows. You pass unusual geological features and many mountain restaurants before reaching the Weissenstein – Solothurn’s balcony.

Picturesque yet challenging hike from Langwies to Klosters via the Fondei Valley. Good level of fitness and sturdy hiking boots are essential. The reward is unspoiled cultural landscape and lush alp pastureland stretching far and wide.

Flüeli affords outstanding views. The varied route follows the shores of the Sarneree and Lungernsee lakes and from Lungern church along the Brünigweg which, as a pilgrimage pfennig (coin) shows, was once a pilgrims’ path.

This section includes a boat trip from Brunnen to Treib, the ancient refuge harbour at the point where cantons Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden meet. The chapels along the way and the Winkelried memorial in Stans are worth seeing.

From Valle di Vergeletto across to Valle di Campo. Stay overnight in stone cottages on the Alpe Arena.

The route leads through the Baselbiet Tafeljura along the historic Hauenstein section. The Ergolztal and Homburgertal valleys are home to impressive castles and massive fortress ruins as well as Switzerland's oldest railway bridges.

From the roof of the canton of Solothurn, with views across the Jura arc to the Swiss Plateau and snow-capped Alps, and on through forests and typical Jura meadows. The first third is also a Planetenweg (planet path). Linguistic border at Montagne de Romont.

Beneath the gaze of the Valais Alps, this hike winds its way from Sierre to St-Léonard through the region’s vineyards. The sun-kissed Valais offers many interesting vistas and experiences.

Mansions dating from the economic heyday in Altstätten; quaint townscape in Eichberg; bread from traditional wood-fired ovens in Hölzisberg; calcite crystals and stalactites in the unique Kobelwald water-bearing crystal caves.

From the art and university city of Fribourg you follow the Galternschlucht (gorge) and a hilly route via St. Ursen (wooden storehouse) and Rechthalten (baroque church) to Plaffeien. Wonderful panorama of high plateaux and Jura.

This route runs around the enchanting hamlet of Lucelle, which is set in a nature reserve. The remains of a Cistercian monastery will take you back to bygone days and the wild vegetation along the lake shore will make this an unforgettable tour.

A romantic walk on a plateau bordered by cherry trees in the Basel region, taking the walker back to the Middle Ages with a visit to the castle of Schloss Wildenstein. The last third of the walk overlaps with the path of the Erlebnisweg Titterten and the Rifensteiner Sagenweg.

This route starts at Hausen am Albis by Türlersee lake and leads through the enchanting Säuliamt recreational area to Affoltern am Albis. A beautiful excursion with captivating views into the distance and interesting cultural monuments.

The Erlenbach and Küsnacht Gorge area boasts much natural beauty. Highlights include the waterfall and the huge erratic boulder, Alexander's Stone, a large sandstone rock left over from the Ice Age.

The trail leads from Winterthur through a beautiful pre-Alpine hiking area with rugged valleys, lakes and ridges with wonderful views, crowned by the highest point in Canton Zurich, the Schnebelhorn, and on to Obersee at Rapperswil with its attractive old town.

The Thur now flows eastwards and straightened through the principality. There is hardly any altitude difference to overcome on the embankment and through shady forest. The Huserfelsen cliffs just before the cantonal border are the only notable elevation. After this the trail ascends to Bischofszell.

The classic Poschiavo hike takes us into the Val da Camp, now part of the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Cultural Monuments of National Importance. It is a hike characterised by pastures, high-plateaus and lakes

The hike from Iffigenfälle via the Oberlaubhorn to the Simmenfällen (waterfalls) is one of the most popular in the Lenk area. It offers breathtaking views over Lenk village and to the surrounding mountain world and leads past the most spectacular cascades in the Simmental.

From Gsteig to Sanetschsee and on an old mule track through water-furrowed meadows up to the Col du Sanetsch, historic pass from the Bernese Oberland into the Valais. Panoramic views of Valais Alps and Diableret glacier world.

A stage for railway fans: part of the trail runs right alongside the railway tracks, past Göschenen and Andermatt, which played important roles in Gotthard traffic history. In between the Schöllenenschlucht (gorge), shrouded in myth.

From Stans the route leads to the town square in Wil on the Aa River. The path continues along the Engelberg portion of the Aa and rises up to the geographical center of the canton - an attractive vantage point. Farther uphill lies the village of Niederrickenbach.

The 74-km Wine Trail leads through the band of vineyards between Leuk and Martigny. The stretch can be covered in four stages, the best times being spring or autumn – in summer it’s hot and humid in the vineyards.

Over flower-filled meadows, with wonderful views along the sunny slopes of the Engiadina bassa, before turning into the wild, forested Val Sinestra, past historic buildings, climb to the scenic Fimberpass, the pass to the Heidelberger Hut.

The route leads back to Thun over the Spiezberg hill and along the tranquil lakeside path. It's worth making the detour to the church in Einigen, which illustrates 1300 years of cultural history around Lake Thun. To finish, the numerous restaurants in the town wait to welcome weary travellers.

Across the legendary Grimselpass on the historic mule track, passing some spectacular structures from early trading times. The hike leads through impressive mountain landscape, shaped and milled by the Aare Glacier and now used to produce hydroelectricity.

The mountain pass area of the Klausen is without doubt one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. The high-altitude track lpasses through fantastic landscapes, majestic mountains and unique flora and fauna.
