Doing a summer internship at the Seeblick Höhenhotel in Emmetten was part of her studies at the School for Tourism and Skiing in Salzburg. She promptly fell in love with the Klewenalp region. “There’s a huge range of cycling and hiking activities on offer here. The perfect addition to training for skiing.”

Starting at Höhenhotel Seeblick, follow the 3km of the bike trail high above Lake Lucerne.
Around 30 colourful info boards share tips and tricks from expert biker Lukas Stöckli. They accompany visitors along the technical natural route and help them work on their biking technique. The Wood Trail starts at the same point. In dry weather, this is open to adults who want to get better at taking corners or perhaps even practise jumps both big and small.

Ski racing and tourism

She was looking for the perfect place in which to spend her summer and came across the Klewenalp region. The elevated location of Emmetten, the wide lake and the many cable cars running up and down mountains big and small: it sounded like a fairy tale. So she applied to do an internship in Höhenhotel Seeblick, which specialises in cycling holidays – and clinched it.

The 18-year-old up-and-coming Austrian sportswoman is studying hospitality, but also nutritional science and kinesiology. The School for Tourism and Skiing is the perfect place for dedicated ski racers. This is the place to enhance both theoretical expertise and practical abilities. In winter, the focus is almost exclusively on the ski training programme. By undertaking mandatory holiday work placements in tourism, students also gain professional experience. Students complete a compact course in business administration and tourism with graduation examination.

The Klewenalp region is a bit like a theme park – albeit simply in the midst of nature.
