During the “The People Have Their Say” segment, residents of Thun will share their thoughts on stage.

The Hotel Krone’s festival food stand will offer culinary classics.

The traditional August 1st bonfire on the lakeshore will bring a sparkle to children’s eyes as the event comes to a close.

Fire and Fireworks Ban in the Canton of Bern

Due to the ongoing drought and the new heat wave expected next week, the fire ban in and near forests is now in effect throughout the entire Canton of Bern. In addition, setting off fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices, releasing sky lanterns, and lighting bonfires are generally prohibited.

General Fireworks Ban

Furthermore, setting off fireworks (including small firecrackers) and rockets, as well as other pyrotechnic devices, is generally prohibited throughout the entire canton—even outside the fire ban zones. Also generally prohibited are the release of sky lanterns and the lighting of bonfires or August 1st bonfires.

Call for Extreme Caution

Outside the fire prohibition zones, light fires only in permanently installed fire pits and with the utmost caution. Always monitor all fires and immediately extinguish any flying sparks. Refrain from lighting fires entirely if it is windy. Follow instructions from local authorities.

The cantonal governors have already made these decisions to ensure planning certainty for July 31 and August 1, 2026. The Office for Forests and Natural Hazards will reassess the situation on August 6, 2026.

Fireworks on lakes are permitted.
