"Plantes Fiction" Outdoor Exhibition at the Botanical Garden

Plants are all around us. They are essential to our lives. They feed us with grains, fruits, and vegetables. They clothe us with cotton and linen. They shelter us with the wood used to build our homes. They also help us heal, as many medicines come from plants. It’s therefore no surprise that plants have also found a place in our imagination—in fairy tales, legends, and great works of fantasy.

In this exhibition, JURASSICA invites you to discover famous plants from the Botanical Garden that have been featured in fiction. From the world of Harry Potter to that of Super Mario, via Middle-earth and the Smurfs, you’ll see that plants often play an important role in imaginary worlds… just as they do in our own.

Composed of small huts, this temporary exhibition is spread across various areas of the Botanical Garden. From the park to the greenhouses, and around the Research and Conservation Center, discover plants from our collections paired with their fictional counterparts. Blending science and fiction, we hope you enjoy an enchanting journey of discovery.
