Workshop 1
Overview
Intro
Testimonies of war and violence reach us almost every day – through the news, social media, and sometimes through personal stories. But what actually happens when we listen to them?
Testimonies of war and violence reach us almost every day – through the news, social media, and sometimes through personal stories. But what actually happens when we listen to them? How can we engage with experiences that are often difficult to put into words? And what changes when listening itself becomes the starting point?
The workshop is inspired by the artistic research project «There Is No Minimum Age for War», developed in collaboration with people who were recruited by armed groups in Colombia as minors. We listen, tell stories, and experiment with voice, sound, breath, rhythm, and silence, exploring how these elements can shift our perception. In doing so, we also seek new ways of engaging with testimonies of war and collectively explore what attentive listening can make possible.
