Этот замок в живописном месте на вершине холма был построен еще в XIII веке. Сейчас в нем музей, посвященный восьми столетиям архитектуры в регионе, истории и культуры. С регионом Грюйер связано немало легенд: здесь вы познакомитесь с Красавицей Люс, Хромым Жаном, шутом Шаламалой и героическими женщинами Грюйера, которые превратили стадо коз в качестве военного отряда, вызвав панику в стане противника.
Сейчас в средневековом замке хранятся уникальные коллекции экспонатов, рассказывающих о богатой событиями истории региона. Посетители замка словно отправятся в путешествие сквозь века, открывая для себя его залы с потрясающим оформлением и множеством удивительных сокровищ. Все заслуживает внимания: драгоценные средневековые витражи, мантии ордена Золотого руна, гобелены и знаменитый Рыцарский зал, созданный в XIX веке.
В замке регулярно проводятся временные выставки, в том числе и современных художников.

Tour of the castle (1-2 hours)
Walk from the guard room to the romantic salons to the knights' hall, where medieval armor is on display. Along the way, you will meet the characters of the Gruyère legends: The beautiful Luzia, the fool Chalamala and the lame Hans. You can download the free audio guide with augmented reality to your smartphone before your visit.
- Good to know: The audio guide is available in German, French and English.
Castle garden and fortification walls
From the French Garden and the fortification walls, you have a wide view over the rooftops of the medieval town of Gruyères to the Fribourg Pre-Alps. Here you will enjoy the history of the castle hill, on which the castle has stood since the 13th century. The garden is open from Easter to September.
- Good to know: Picnicking within the castle walls is not allowed.
Treasure hunt for children (1.5 hours)
Follow a medieval-dressed cultural mediator through the permanent exhibition with your children and search for 10 hidden documents. Each certificate shows a picture that brings you closer to the treasure chamber. On the way you will hear the stories and legends of the castle. At the end, a knight is crowned and part of the loot is taken home.
- Good to know: The treasure hunt must be booked in advance.
