Intro
Next to Lausanne train station is Plateforme 10, the art district of the canton of Vaud. On a spacious promenade there are 3 museums for design, art and photography. A single ticket will take you from collection to collection.
The Plateforme 10 at a glance
The Plateforme 10 is located in Lausanne, a few steps from the main train station. On an area of around 25,000 square metres, the quarter brings together 3 cantonal museums: The mudac for design, the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts and the Photo Elysée photo museum. In addition, there are shops and a restaurant with a terrace. A shared ticket provides access to all 3 houses.

mudac: Design and Molding (1-2 hours)
At mudac, everything revolves around design. The Cantonal Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts presents furniture, graphics, jewellery and glass art. Several times a year you will come across new temporary exhibitions here. A highlight is his own collection: It includes one of the most important glass art collections in Europe.
- Good to know: On the first Saturday of the month, admission to all exhibitions is free.
- Tip: The museum shop carries objects by young designers.
Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts (1–2 hours)
In the oldest of the 3 houses, you'll wander through art from the 18th century to the present day. In the permanent exhibition "La collection" you will see around 300 works on 2 floors, from Vaudois paintings to big international names. In addition, there are changing exhibitions.
- Good to know: The museum has its own building, a little apart from the other two.
Photo Elysée (1 hour)
The Photo Elysée is one of the most important photo museums in Europe. The collection takes you from the beginnings of photography to the present day and includes the archive of travel photographer Ella Maillart. Instead of a fixed presentation, the museum shows you the collection in changing exhibitions.
- Good to know: Photo Elysée and mudac share a building, both of which can be reached directly.
