Selun cable car – open cable cars

Selun cable car was built in 1911 as a simple way of transporting objects up the mountain. It was completely renovated in 1986 and approved to carry passengers. Nowadays, it transports passengers in unique open wooden cable cars.

Fribourg’s funicular railway – a technical engineering marvel

The nostalgic funicular railway has been ferrying passengers down to the town of Fribourg on the River Saane since 1899. The last water-powered funicular railway in Switzerland is not powered by an engine but runs on wastewater from the upper town. This is why it has been listed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National and Regional Significance.

Sulwald cable car – big enough for a cow
