The idyllic Zurich Oberland is not far from Zurich. In the heart of this hiking and cycling area lies not only the highest mountain in the Canton of Zurich, but also the highest waterfall.

The Jura Vaudois Nature Park extends from the summit of La Dôle to the medieval monastic town of Romainmôtier. To the north lies the Vallée de Joux at an altitude of 1,000m. Visitor programmes are offered by the park office and local tourism organisations.

The small medieval city of Saint-Maurice is located at the entrance of the Upper Rhône Valley, between a rock face and the river. It is home to the renowned abbey as well as a castle.

The name Bivio means "parting of the ways" and is inseparably bound up with two ancient Roman passes, the Septimer and the Julier. The highest village in Surses with just 260 souls to its name, Bivio has what must be the most extraordinary linguistic make-up in all of Europe, or so one scholar of note has concluded.

Saint-Ursanne spreads out in a forested valley and fascinates visitors with its medieval centre. The town is located on the River Doubs and can be reached via a charming bridge.

Zweisimmen is part of the holiday region of Gstaad, famous as a hiking and winter sports paradise. The chalet village on the Rinderberg is known for alpine farms and mountain cheese, as well as its Simmental cows fed on lush pastures. Make sure to take a trip on the GoldenPass panoramic train to Montreux.

Just by Basel, at the start of the navigable Rhine, lies the charming little "Zähringer" town of Rheinfelden. The historic town centre with its typical wide market street and delightful side lanes is an inviting area in which to wander, explore and do some shopping.

The village of Täsch is 1,449 metres above sea level and is home to around 998 people. It is situated 6 km from the world-famous tourist region of Zermatt and its majestic landmark - the Matterhorn. Täsch is effectively the gateway to this huge and amazing mountain range.

Arth-Goldau, the Schwyz twin locality located between Lakes Zug and Lauerz, is the starting point for the trip up the Rigi, as well as a Lake Zug boat cruise. The alluvial fan of the huge avalanche is now home to the renowned Goldau Zoo. Last but not least, Arth-Goldau is an important railway node along the Gotthard line.

The quaint mountain village of Unterbäch, with its panoramic views of the Bietschhorn, is a relaxing, family-friendly place. Thanks to its first-class location atop a sunny high plateau, the hamlet basks in over 2,000 hours of sunshine each year.

Just a few kilometres from the well-known Ticino resorts of Locarno and Ascona are the unspoilt romantic valleys known as the Valli di Locarno. The most well-known are the Centovalli, the Onsernone, Maggia and Verzasca valleys.

The tranquil central Swiss holiday and excursion region around Küssnacht am Rigi lies where Tell once felled his adversary, Gessler. The Seebodenalp is a vista-rich plateau half-way up the “queen of the mountains”, the Rigi.

This charming Valaisan village is situated at the mouth of the Rhone where it feeds into Lake Geneva. It is known for its beautiful beach and its amusement parks, the Aquaparc and the Swiss Vapeur Parc.

The unspoilt countryside of Visperterminen, the Heida wine village at the entrance to the Visper valley, which lies 1,378m above sea level, is a paradise for walkers and offers a fantastic view of the gleaming white 4,000m peaks of the Valais and Bernese Alps.

Making a stop in Sion is well worthwhile: the oldest of Switzerland’s cities in the sunny Rhône Valley is characterised by its fortress hills and its old town. From here, you can explore the Valais region and sample specialities such as the famous Valais wines in the vineyards themselves.

Adelboden, the chalet village on the Wildstrubel, inspires with panoramic hikes and the huge Adelboden-Lenk ski area. Experience adventures on the World Cup slope on the Chuenisbärgli or excursions to the Engstligen Falls and the Choleren Gorge.

Arosa Lenzerheide, with its countless meadows, mountain streams and crystal clear mountain lakes offers a wealth of possibilities in summer. And in winter, diverse cross-country ski tracks, winter hiking paths and ski slopes extending over 225 kilometres are yours to enjoy.

In Porrentruy you will find an old town with baroque town houses and a castle with a view. You’ll love the city’s museums, such as the Hôtel-Dieu or the Jurassica. Discover the Uhrenweg and the Botanical Garden, or explore the Ajoie region and trace the footsteps of the dinosaurs.

In Zug, you can explore the old town with the Zytturm and Landsgemeindeplatz and enjoy Lake Zug on a boat trip or at the lido. The city is located at the foot of the Rigi, not far from Einsiedeln, Lucerne and Zurich and is known for its impressive sunsets.

The diverse vacation region between Lake Walen and Sarganser Land in Eastern Switzerland gets its name from Johanna Spyri’s world famous Heidi story. Well-known destinations include the skiing and hiking regions of Flumserberg and Pizol as well as the thermal, wellness and golf oasis of Bad Ragaz.
