Intro
The Sierre-Zinal Race, also known as the Course des cinq 4000, has often been cited as one of the most magnificent mountain races in the world.
Set in the heart of the Valais Alps, Sierre-Zinal is an extremely demanding 31km race, with a 2200m ascent and a 1100m descent. The exceptional scenery, warm atmosphere and impeccable organisation explain the success and longevity of Sierre-Zinal. As Jonathan Wyatt wrote.
What's more, it's considered to be the oldest major mountain race in Europe.
