Mild temperatures and the riot of autumnal colour in the forests are ideal conditions for exploring stage 9 of the Jura High Trail. The section of the route begins at 1,200m a.s.l. in Vue des Alpes. The route continues along the high mountain range with the peaks of Tête de Ran and Mont Racine, from where you can enjoy a magnificent panorama and the distant Chasseral can be seen when you look over your shoulder. Before the steep descent to Noiraigue, a breathtaking view of Lake Neuchâtel can be enjoyed from the Tablettes rocky outcrop.

Unspoilt nature, unique flora and fauna and a multitude of wild animals — Graubünden offers impressive nature reserves where long-range hikes can be combined with wildlife watching. Whether in the Biosfera Val Müstair, the Swiss National Park, Parc Ela or the Beverin Nature Park — visitors can enjoy autumn to its fullest potential.

Starting at the Tracouet mountain station high above Haute-Nendaz, this hike allows you to admire the golden Valais forests. Passing the Lac Noir mountain lake, the route leads towards Cabane de Balavaux to the oldest and largest larch trees in Europe. The trail then continues along a narrow path to the Saxon bisse, the longest in the Valais. Past the Gouille d’Ouché pond and the pretty mountain chapel at Les Rairettes, the trail leads back to Haute-Nendaz.

The idyllic little town of Stein am Rhein is located at the point where the Rhine leaves Lake Constance. The circular hike starts on the Rathausplatz in the middle of the old town. Following the Rhine, the trail leads you along idyllic river banks through autumnal vineyards up to Hohenklingen Castle. Magnificent views of the Rhine landscape, the little town of Stein am Rhein as well as Lower Lake Constance and Werd Island are a permanent fixture.

Monte Lema is regarded as one of the most scenic mountains in Ticino. It can be easily reached from Miglieglia by cable car and is the starting point for many wonderful hikes. Along the alpine paths, guests enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano, as well as the finest culinary delights. The typical Malcantone villages nestled in the autumnal sweet chestnut woods are also well worth a visit.

The primaeval landscape of the Brecca Valley in the canton of Fribourg is a wild yet magical place above the Schwarzsee. Tens of thousands of years ago, glaciers created a fascinating landscape with a unique character that can be explored on various hikes, even in autumn. Alpine traditions are still alive in the Brecca Valley and hikers are welcome guests in the alpine huts. 

Glarnerland, the home of “Adler Bräu” beer, is a mountain world that encourages peak performance and invites visitors to enjoy the good life. That’s precisely the combination targeted in the hiking challenge: hiking fans can collect stamps on the four SAC hut tours in Glarnerland and receive a free drink for their efforts. If you complete all four tours, you will be rewarded with a finisher kit and a “hiking trophy”.

The circular hike in the Bernese Oberland is a rewarding experience for ambitious hikers who love a challenge. Steep in parts, the trail starts in Aeschiried and passes the impressive Pochtenfall waterfall. From there, the path continues to the Schlieri and Mittelberg alps, before reaching the Renggli Pass, where you can enjoy glorious views of Lake Brienz. A challenging mountain hiking tail, secured by steel cables, leads on to Morgenberghorn. Those reaching the summit will be rewarded for their demanding ascent with amazing panoramic views. 

In the canton of Graubünden, hikers can explore one of the most secluded valleys in Switzerland on the Sentiero Panoramico. A scenically spectacular panorama trail leads from Maloja through Val Bregaglia with its autumnal golden yellow and dark green conifers to Soglio. Visitors follow old trails through colourful mixed forests, over massive granite slabs, always accompanied by the backdrop of the mighty mountain peaks that touch the sky on the other side of the valley.

A high-altitude hike through the heart of Schaffhausen’s Blauburgunderland will enchant anyone who loves autumn. The route starts at Siblingerhöhe and crosses a mountain range extending to the southeast with a view of the lovely mountain church towards Trasadingen. At the centre of this route is the Mediterranean-like view over the colourful vines of Blauburgunderland.

Nestled among golden forests, mountains and glaciers, Saas-Fee serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the Saas Valley. You can choose between a guided tour through the Fee Gorge, a leisurely stroll close to where the marmots play or a trip up to the glacier on the world’s highest funicular railway. Experience nature up close in the Saas Valley.

Weinfelden has a surprising variety of outstanding restaurants and delectable wines. On the circular wine trail through the vineyards of Weinfelden, Boltshausen and Ottoberg, hikers are repeatedly treated to sweeping views of the Thur Valley and the Alps. The various attractions, stops and information boards along the wine trail are dedicated to wine, local winegrowers, restaurateurs and partners.

The starting point of the panoramic hike is the car-free village of Rasa, which can only be reached by cable car. From there, a varied trail winds through expansive sweet chestnut forests and up to Pizzo Leone. From this peak, you can enjoy a wonderful, richly contrasted view. Down below, the slender shape of Lake Maggiore stretches out, and towards the north you can make out the deep valleys and wild gorges of the picturesque landscape of the Centovalli. A panorama trail then follows the mountain ridge in a pleasant descent in numerous twists and turns to Ronco, from where you can take the bus or the boat back to Ascona. 

The fantastic mountain world around the mighty Titlis, the unique flora, the deep blue mountain lakes and the breathtaking views of the Central Swiss Alps, are just some of the highlights of this hike. The starting point for the four-lake hike is the Melchsee-Frutt cable car station, from where you continue to Lake Melchsee, Lake Tannensee and Lake Engstlensee. At the last body of water, the Trübsee, the landscape can even be discovered by rowboat before you take the mountain railway back down into the valley to Engelberg.
