Intro
"Mountains and valleys are side by side, with steep cliff faces watching over views so wide", as it says in the words of the local folk-song. The mountain walk from Langenbruck to the Passwang highlights the truth of these lines in no uncertain terms. No fewer than three of the cliff faces referred to in the song are climbed.
Description
The thickly wooded Helfenberg is the first peak to conquer on this trail. Following a brief descent, the path climbs up again to the rocky summit of the Chellenchöpfli, the highest peak in the canton of Baselland. The views from here are simply magnificent. The trail then follows an undulating path along the broad back of the Passwang on the border between the cantons of Baselland and Solothurn.
Langenbruck - Helfenberg - Chellenchöpfli - Hintere Wasserfallen - Passwang - Passwang Alpenblick
Following the yellow and red signposts of the Jura-Höhenweg trail towards Passwang, the path leads steeply up from Langenbruck to the thickly wooded Helfenberg. Passing the Hof Sol, it carries on uphill to the Chellenchöpfli, before reaching Hintere Wasserfallen and finally Passwang. The descent leads back down to the bus stop at Restaurant Alpenblick.
