歴史に興味のある方は、かつてのローマ街道にそって、古代ローマの都市があったヴィンデッシュ、リースタール、アウグスト(アウグシュト)、カイザーアウグスト(ケイザーアウグシュト)などに残る遺跡を訪ねてはいかがでしょう。「アウグスタ・ラウリカAugusta Raurica」は、紀元前にケルト系のガリア人の部族の居住地に、ガリア戦争にてこの地を進攻したカエサル(シーザー)の副官だったプランクスが築き、後にアルプス征服を果たしたアウグストゥスによってコロニア(植民地)にされたといわれる都市で、かつての寺院や円形劇場などが残っている北アルプス地方で最大のローマ遺跡です。
