Piazza Grande in Locarno is one of the largest town squares in Switzerland and the social heart of the city. It covers around 17,000 square meters and is known for its striking cobblestones and historic arcaded houses. The famous Locarno Film Festival and numerous other events take place here.

約100年前、マッジョーレ湖畔のロカルノに最初の木が植えられて以来、この温暖な地に定着したカメリア。日本原産のこの美しい花は地元の人々の心を魅了し、カメリア・フェスティバル（ツバキまつり）が開かれるなど、今ではロカルノを代表する春の花となっています。 そしてこの祭りのメイン会場でもあったマッジョーレ湖畔の1万平方メートルの広大な土地にカメリア公園がオープン。毎年、世界各国の園芸家と交流しながら品種を増やし、現在では約950種類ものカメリア（ツバキ）が栽培されています。

ロカルノの対岸にあたるマッジョーレ湖畔のガンバローニョ地方。湖をのぞむ山中に、一人の才能あふれる園芸師によってつくりあげられた見事な植物園があります。 17000㎡の広大な敷地内では、世界でもトップクラスといわれる約350種類のマグノリアと約950種類のカメリアのほか、ローデンドロンやアザレアを見ることができます。

Piazza della Riforma in Lugano is the vibrant center of the city, surrounded by historic buildings, cafés and restaurants. Cultural events take place here and the square is the ideal starting point for exploring sights such as Lake Lugano and Parco Ciani.

Located on the shores of Lake Lugano, this 63,000 square metre park constitutes the city’s green lung. Here you can recover from the hustle and bustle of the city as you walk along paths lined by magnificent centuries-old trees.
