The Minster Terrace with its green spaces and large chestnut trees is perfect for picnics, playing and relaxing. The breathtaking view of the Aare river, the Alps and Bern’s Matte neighbourhood make the old churchyard a popular place to meet and hang out.

1513年から飼育されてきた、ベルンのシンボルでもある“熊”。町の発祥の地であるニーデッガー橋のたもとにある小さなお堀でみることができましたが、2009年10月にアーレ川沿いの土手に広々とした公園がつくられ、敷地面積6000平方メートルの「ベーレンパルク（熊公園）BärenPark」がオープン。のびのびと過ごす熊たちの奥には、アーレ川に囲まれた世界遺産の美しいベルン旧市街が一望できる憩いのスポットです。

手紙、郵便や電報から電話、テレビ、ラジオ、コンピュータなどの最新メディアまで、コミュニケーションに関するすべてを網羅するコレクションを誇っています。

ベルンの南郊外にあるエルフェナウは、ロシア大公夫人の私有地に、庭園師J. バウマンの設計により造られた眺めの良い公園です。歴史を感じる邸宅、美しい広場、温室とカフェなどがある公園では、さまざまな文化イベントも開催されています。

400万点のコレクションを誇る自然史博物館のメインは、世界中の鳥や動物の剥製をそれらが棲息する環境を再現したもの。ヨーロッパ最大級のジオラマ展示といわれています。アルプス山脈から発見された巨大水晶も必見です。

その半生をベルンで過ごした画家パウル・クレーが残した全作品の約40％にあたる4000点以上所有する大規模な美術館。世界随一のコレクションを誇っています。センターの設計はイタリア人の国際的に有名な建築家レンゾ・ピアノ。ベルン郊外に広がる緑あふれる郊外の丘陵地に、３つの特徴的な波型屋根が連なる、ガラスとスチールを基調にした建物も注目されています。

世界遺産に登録されているベルンの旧市街を見下ろす高台に広がる花の美しい公園。23000平方メートルの敷地に約8000種の植物が栽培されています。アイリスのほか、ツツジやアザレアなどもありますが、何といってもメインは“花の女王”ともいわれるバラの花が、約7500本あるバラ園です。約220種のバラは早咲きのものから遅咲きのものまで春から秋にかけて次々に咲いていきます。また、4月には日本から贈られた桜の花も咲き誇ります。
